- We are giving $1 per runner to the
Children's Cancer
Research Fund for this event.
Awards will be given to the top runners in each age category.
Award ceremonies will immediately follow the race near the
start/finish line in the park.
Race Information
Due to major issues with the
bridge collapse and permitting for Mississippi River Boulevard,
the race has been moved to Saint Paul for 2008. The race will
now run around Lake Phalen just northeast of downtown St. Paul.
The selection of this venue was due to the beautiful trails and
the great picnic area at this park. Please come and see the new
location for the Running Opener that is sure to surprise you. I
have been told by many people and now I believe, this truly is
an oasis in the middle of the city!!
Course Information
This is a spectacular course
with the 5K completing one lap around the lake and the 10K going
around the lake two times. Both courses are certified and both
will be fast. There are a few small hills but nothing of size.
The great thing about this course is that it will be held on the
trails of the park. Therefore, you will not be crossing a street
or have to deal with any traffic/motorists!!! Please come and
try the new course which will surely be a must on your yearly
calendar of events!
