Half Iron Course (Swim, Bike, and Run)

Olympic Course (Swim, Bike and Run)

Specific course information below.
Olympic Course
Our Olympic distance race (1.5k Swim, 40k Bike, 10k Run) will start from the sandy beaches of Lake Independence.
Swim: Wetsuits will be allowed (and encouraged) per USAT rules and regulations. Participants will swim in a counter-clockwise direction around a triangular shaped swim course keeping all buoys to your left. The swim exit provides competitors with excellent sightlines and with the tall trees in the background, little to no glare coming into the swim exit and transition area. Buoys will mark the course and there will be a lead kayak as well as boat and lifeguard support along the way. All participants will receive an official Liberty Triathlon swim cap which must be worn during the swim portion of the event. Participants will exit the water and traverse a short grassy stretch to the transition area where they mount their bikes.
Bike: The Olympic bike course is a challenging and scenic out and back 40K bike ride. The bike course will take participants out of the park and onto the rolling hills of the surrounding communities of Medina, Maple Plain, and Independence (See below course maps and elevations). All bikers must have an ANSI approved helmet to participate and obey all Minnesota State Traffic Laws. Bikers without helmets will not be allowed on to the course. This is a USAT non-draft legal event with race marshals patrolling the entire course. All athletes must provide their own nutrition along the bike course. Course is well marked with road chalk, signs at all corners, volunteers, and West Hennepin Public Safety Officers.
Run: The race concludes with a 10K, mostly paved, trail run weaving through the campground and wetlands of the Baker Park Reserve and Lake Katrina. Aid stations will be located approx. every mile along the run course and will be supplied with Water, HEED replenishment drink, Hammer Gel, and Endurolytes courtesy of Hammer Nutrition. Flat soda and solid carbohydrates will also be available.
The Liberty Triathlon Olympic Distance event is sure to be a great race for novice and seasoned triathletes alike.
